This dish is typically made with chicken and is found in most Indian restaurants. It is one of the favorite Indo- Chinese recipes from India. Since my son loves shrimp I substitute shrimp for the chicken. It can be eaten as a snack or as a side dish with the main meal.

Ingredients:

Cooked Shrimp 1lb

Corn flour 3 tablespoons

Chili powder a pinch

Garlic paste 1/4 teaspoon (optional)

Ginger paste 1/4 teaspoon (optional)

Egg 1

Salt as needed

Onion 1 small

Green pepper 1

Minced garlic 1 tablespoon

Minced ginger 1 tablespoon

Chili sauce or Sambal Oelek1 teaspoon

Soy sauce 1 tablespoon

Green chili and spring onions for garnish (optional)

Vegetable oil for deep frying

Method:

Thaw the shrimp if it is frozen. Chop onion and green pepper in long thick strips.Mix the first six ingredients together. Add salt to taste. Heat oil in a pan on medium heat until it smokes slightly. Drop the shrimp mixture into the oil and fry until the shrimp turns brown and is cooked. It will take just two to three minutes. Remove the shrimp and drain on paper towels. In another pan heat three tablespoons of oil. When the oil is shimmering add the vegetables and fry them for two minutes. Now add the garlic and ginger. Fry for a minute. Add the chili sauce, soy sauce and salt if needed. Return the shrimp to the pan and mix lightly to coat the shrimp with the sauce. Garnish with chopped green chili and spring onions.

I use the frozen cooked shrimp for convenience sake, but you can use the fresh raw ones if that is your choice. It will just take a little longer to cook. Also you can use ginger and garlic paste instead of the minced ones. You can add more or less of the ingredients. Its all about personal taste.

Looks so yummy! Is there a way to make them without deep frying, that you recommend? I cannot have that much fat.

Thanks for reading my hub. Sometimes I shallow fry it for my husband.Heat two tablespoons of oil in a nonstick pan and place the shrimp in a single layer and cook until its browned. Repeat with the other side and proceed with the recipe. Cooked shrimp is the best for this method.

Well iruvanti I made this using your recipe and all of the people that ate dinner that night wanted me to make more since I had planned for this it was great! The tip of frying the shrimp was right on the spot. Thank you for a great recipe and an even better party.
